Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Autism Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with children on the autism spectrum and a commitment to trauma-informed, culturally competent care. This role involves providing individualized, evidence-based intervention using naturalistic and collaborative approaches. The Autism Specialist will partner closely with families, caregivers, educators, and other providers to promote skill development, positive behavior change, and improved quality of life for each client.
Responsibilities
- Conduct assessments (direct observation, data collection, caregiver interviews, standardized assessments) to evaluate client strengths, challenges, and support needs.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment results, functional goals, and family priorities.
- Provide in-home therapy using interventions such as Naturalistic Developmental Behavioral Intervention (NDBI), Pivotal Response Treatment (PRT), Functional Communication Training (FCT), Behavioral Skills Training (BST), and Antecedent Interventions.
- Support the development of communication, social, adaptive, and coping skills through naturalistic and play-based strategies.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (caregivers, schools, and other service providers) to ensure consistent and comprehensive care.
- Monitor and analyze client progress, adjust programming as needed, and maintain accurate documentation of treatment plans, data, and communications.
- Provide caregiver training and coaching to promote generalization of skills across home, school, and community environments.
- Educate families about autism spectrum disorders, behavior principles, and evidence-based strategies to support daily living and independence.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Education, Social Work, or a related field required.
- Experience working directly with individuals on the autism spectrum is essential.
- Knowledge of ABA principles and naturalistic interventions (e.g., NDBI, PRT, FCT) strongly preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and collaborate effectively with families and team members.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing to a supportive team environment.
