Join our team at Behavioral Services of Louisiana, LLC, as a Child Peer Support Specialist. We are a dedicated Family Support Organization that values the unique experiences of our team members. In this role, you will provide essential support to children and families in the EBR, WBR, Ascension, Point Coupee, and Felicianas regions, helping them navigate their mental health journeys. You will report to the Director of Operations and be supervised by the Support Specialist Supervisor.
Responsibilities- Provide individual Peer Support Specialist services in the community.
- Assist clients in developing treatment goals within the first 30 days of service.
- Help clients restore, rehabilitate, and develop social and interpersonal skills.
- Identify and enhance support networks, promote community awareness, and develop coping strategies.
- Support the development of daily living skills.
- Assist clients in managing the negative effects of psychiatric or emotional symptoms.
- Help clients identify and respond to triggers that lead to functional impairments.
- Implement Peer Support Plan on an ongoing basis.
- Participate in collaborative meetings with Behavioral Health Services staff and other community supports as needed.
- Communicate clients' status regularly, including changes in mood or functioning, medical issues, and all crisis and health and safety issues.
- Produce effective, clinical documentation of every contact with recipient.
- Attend all office trainings and regular clinical supervision sessions.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Self-identify as a current or former consumer of mental health services.
- Demonstrate a minimum of 6 months in self-directed recovery within the last year or self-identify as a first degree family member.
- Ability to use computer interface to complete documentation for billing or other purposes as needed.
