The Operations Manager, ABC Program reports to the Director of Clinical Operations (or designee) and plays a key leadership role in supporting the operational, programmatic, and fiscal success of the program. This position is responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, supporting strategic initiatives, driving program growth, and fostering a positive, high-performing team culture aligned with BHSN’s mission and values.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm
What Your Day Might Look Like
- Partner with the Director of Clinical Operations to support program vision, operational strategy, staffing, and growth initiatives;
- Translate strategic goals into actionable operational plans and performance objectives;
- Oversee daily program operations and employee productivity while fostering an inclusive and collaborative work environment;
- Support recruitment, onboarding, staff development, performance management, and employee retention efforts;
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies and applicable federal, state, and local regulations;
- Analyze operational processes and identify opportunities for efficiency, quality improvement, and enhanced service delivery;
- Monitor program performance metrics, productivity standards, census development, and budget-related goals;
- Prepare operational reports, track trends, and support forecasting and planning activities;
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and internal teams;
- Support coordination of care and collaboration across programs and external service providers;
- Evaluate program quality, identify improvement opportunities, and implement operational enhancements;
- Assist in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and program objectives;
- Support program expansion efforts, including development of new services and locations as needed;
- Provide direct program support, operational oversight, or supervision as appropriate;
- Lead quality management and continuous improvement initiatives;
- Mentor and support team members while promoting a positive and engaged workplace culture;
- Analyze data and operational metrics to support informed decision-making;
- Participate in internal committees, community partnerships, and organizational initiatives;
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Human Services, Outdoor Recreation, or a related field required; Master’s degree preferred;
- Minimum of 2 years of leadership or operational management experience required;
- Experience in behavioral health, healthcare, human services, residential services, outdoor recreation programming, or related environments strongly preferred;
- Demonstrated experience leading teams, managing operations, and supporting program growth;
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills;
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, communication, and presentation abilities;
- Experience analyzing operational data, performance metrics, and KPIs preferred;
- Wilderness First Aid Certification preferred;
- NYS Guide License preferred;
- Red Cross Basic Water Safety Certification preferred;
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with passenger endorsement strongly preferred;
- Valid NYS driver’s license and reliable transportation required for local and regional travel.
Work Environment
This position requires the ability to work in a variety of outdoor environments and weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and physically demanding terrain. Depending on program needs, responsibilities may involve participation in outdoor and adventure-based activities such as hiking, backpacking, camping, ropes course activities, kayaking, snowshoeing, backcountry skiing, rappelling, and related experiential programming.
