Vice President, Strategic Partnerships & Market Development

Build Partnerships That Expand Access to Addiction Treatment

Behavioral Health Group (BHG) is seeking a Vice President, Strategic Partnerships & Market Development to build high-impact relationships with health systems and healthcare networks that expand access to treatment and drive meaningful patient growth.

This is a senior individual contributor role for an accomplished healthcare business development leader who knows how to open doors, build credibility with healthcare executives, and turn relationships into sustainable referral partnerships.

You will focus primarily on developing enterprise relationships with health systems, hospital networks, emergency departments, behavioral health organizations, FQHCs, and other major healthcare partners. The goal is clear: establish BHG as a trusted partner for patients who need opioid use disorder and substance use disorder treatment and create scalable referral pathways that drive admissions and census growth across our markets.

This is not a traditional sales role or a people leadership position. We are looking for someone who can personally develop senior-level relationships, navigate complex healthcare organizations, create partnership opportunities, and carry them through to measurable results.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and expand strategic relationships with health systems, hospital networks, emergency departments, behavioral health organizations, FQHCs, and other large healthcare partners.
  • Develop relationships with C-suite executives, clinical leaders, population health leaders, behavioral health executives, care management teams, and other key decision-makers.
  • Position BHG as a preferred referral partner for patients who need opioid use disorder and substance use disorder treatment.
  • Identify opportunities to create referral pathways across multiple hospitals, facilities, markets, and health system networks.
  • Navigate complex healthcare organizations and long partnership cycles, moving opportunities from initial relationship through implementation.
  • Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of enterprise partnership opportunities.
  • Structure and negotiate referral partnerships, collaborative programs, and other strategic growth initiatives.
  • Translate strategic relationships into measurable referral volume, admissions, and census growth.
  • Identify new referral channels and underserved patient populations where BHG can expand access to care.
  • Develop additional strategic relationships with managed care organizations, government agencies, criminal justice organizations, and other high-value referral sources.
  • Partner closely with BHG Operations, Clinical Leadership, Marketing, Revenue Operations, and Executive Leadership to successfully launch and grow partnerships.
  • Represent BHG with healthcare executives, industry organizations, community leaders, and other external stakeholders.

What Success Looks Like

You will be successful in this role when the relationships you build translate into measurable growth. We’ll look at the quality and scale of strategic partnerships established, new referral pathways activated, referral and admission volume generated, census growth, and the expansion of successful partnerships across additional markets and facilities.

What We’re Looking For

  • 10 years of progressive experience in healthcare business development, strategic partnerships, health system relations, enterprise sales, market development, or growth.
  • Demonstrated success building relationships with large health systems, hospital networks, or other complex healthcare organizations.
  • Proven ability to develop credibility and influence with C-suite executives and senior healthcare leaders.
  • A track record of turning strategic relationships into measurable patient, referral, revenue, or business growth.
  • Experience navigating complex organizations with multiple stakeholders and longer partnership development cycles.
  • Strong negotiation, presentation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to independently build strategy, develop a pipeline, open doors, and move opportunities through execution.
  • A highly accountable, entrepreneurial approach and comfort operating as a senior individual contributor.

Even Better If You Have

  • Behavioral health, addiction treatment, mental health, or multi-site healthcare experience.
  • An established network of relationships within health systems or hospital networks.
  • Experience with population health, value-based care, care transitions, or healthcare referral networks.
  • Experience developing partnerships with managed care organizations, government agencies, or criminal justice organizations.
  • Experience with government contracting, procurement, RFPs, or RFQs.

Who Thrives in This Role

You are a relationship builder who is comfortable walking into a complex healthcare organization and figuring out how to create value. You can engage credibly with senior executives while also working with the clinical and operational leaders who ultimately make a partnership successful.

You are persistent without being transactional, commercially minded without losing sight of the patient, and motivated by building something that produces measurable results. Most importantly, you want your work to help more people access treatment when they need it.

Travel

This position requires significant travel, approximately 50%, across BHG markets and partner locations.

Why BHG?

At BHG, growth means more than expanding our business. It means helping more people access life-changing treatment for opioid and substance use disorders. With a national footprint across 20 states, BHG has the scale, clinical expertise, and established infrastructure to be a meaningful partner to health systems looking for trusted solutions for patients who need ongoing addiction treatment.

This role offers the opportunity to shape how BHG partners with the broader healthcare ecosystem, building enterprise relationships and referral pathways that can reach thousands of patients. You’ll have the visibility and autonomy of a senior leader, direct access to executive leadership, and the opportunity to build partnerships where the impact is both measurable and deeply meaningful.

BHG is an equal opportunity, affirmative action employer providing equal employment opportunities to applicants and employees without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, national origin, protected veteran status, disability status, or any other legally protected basis, in accordance with applicable law.
