Responsibilities
- Provide practical support, mentoring, advocacy, and problem-solving.
- Educate patients and families on mental illness and addiction.
- Collect and report data as required.
- Assist patients in setting and achieving recovery goals.
- Support patients in joining and sustaining self-help groups.
- Utilize tools like WRAP for individual wellness plans.
- Teach problem-solving techniques in group settings.
- Support patients' vocational choices and job-related anxiety.
- Assist in social skills development and obtaining housing.
- Model effective coping techniques and self-help strategies.
- Advocate for recovery-based services.
- Connect patients with community resources.
- Help patients develop empowerment skills and combat stigma.
- Collaborate with treatment teams on recovery plans.
- Report work-related injuries, illnesses, or hazards immediately.
- Advocate that addiction is a brain disease.
- Demonstrate hope, respect, and care in all interactions.
- Work independently under pressure, handling multiple tasks.
- Make sound decisions on confidential issues.
- Manage stressful situations and seek guidance when needed.
- 2 years of experience in behavioral health.
- Peer Recovery or Peer Recovery Coach certification preferred.
- High School degree or equivalent.
- Variable workload and periodic high activity levels.
- Adequate vision for reading correspondence and computer screens.
- Ability to sit for long periods, with some bending and stretching.
- Effective communication by phone or in person.
- Prolonged periods of keyboarding.
