Behavioral Health Associates (BHA) is an educational organization. We offer an academic learning environment integrated with behavior support services for students diagnosed with emotional/behavioral disorders to empower the students in overcoming challenges and creating new stories in their lives.
We currently have an opening for a full-time, year-round, Campus Garden and Learning Assistant.
JOB GOAL
This position is responsible for assisting the Campus Garden and Learning Coordinator with ensuring a safe, clean, and functional learning environment by maintaining campus facilities and supporting the development, care, and daily operation of outdoor learning and garden spaces that enhance student learning, wellness, and school community experiences.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
Campus & Garden Program Coordination
- Assist with conducting routine inspections of buildings, grounds, and outdoor learning spaces, reporting any issues to the supervisor.
- Assist with performing ongoing maintenance and repairs across campus facilities, equipment, and outdoor areas.
- Assist with supporting the care and upkeep of school gardens, green spaces, and outdoor learning environments.
- Assist with ensuring Ensure all campus areas remain safe, clean, accessible, and functional for students and staff.
Experiential Learning Support
- Assist teachers and staff when needed to prepare spaces for outdoor or hands-on learning activities.
- Help maintain tools, materials, and equipment used for campus, garden, and facility-related projects.
- Support tasks that align with outdoor education, campus sustainability, and student exploration.
Student Engagement & Leadership
- Model responsible and safe use of tools, equipment, and campus spaces.
- Support opportunities for students to participate in stewardship or maintenance-related activities when appropriate.
Operational & Facilities Integration
- Research, source, and gather necessary materials or products to complete maintenance or repair tasks.
- Collaborate effectively with custodial staff and assist other departments as needed.
- Respond to maintenance requests promptly and efficiently to support smooth school operations.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned by administration.
Community & Partnership Support
- Contribute to maintaining a clean, welcoming, and safe environment for students, staff, families, and visitors.
- Support school-wide initiatives and events that rely on well-maintained spaces and grounds.
QUALIFICATION
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid PA Driver's License, required.
- Demonstrated experience in campus maintenance, groundskeeping, horticulture, or related practical fields, preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage projects independently.
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, students, and staff.
- Commitment to student-centered environments and experiential learning.
- Ability to perform physical tasks related to outdoor work.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other basic computer programs.
