Salary: 20-25Behavioral AideLocation: Montebello, CA | On Site | Part TimeDescription of Job Duties and ExpectationsPosition Type:Part-Time (Monday through Friday during school hours)Compensation Range: $20 - $25Locations:Various locations - Montebello Unified School DistrictResponsibilities:Primary responsibility is direct support to students with special needsParticipate in activities planned by the school district staffAssists in the preparation and development of instructional training activities and materialsAssists school district staff with in-class activities based on specific instructionsAssists school district staff in maintaining a neat and orderly classroom environment by keeping materials and equipment organizedAssists the school district staff in maintaining a good learning atmosphere by using effective teaching and behavior management techniquesUnder direct supervision, staff may assist with assessing student needsProvides the school district staff with general impressions and observations of students they work withWorks with students individually, in small groups, whole groups or learning centers planned by the school district staff and provides instruction to studentMay assist with classroom technology, adaptive devices, and equipmentAssists with social skillsAssists with toileting, diapering, dressing, and hygieneKeeps an organized and clutter-free restroom and/or changing areaAdministers emergency treatment when necessaryMay take children into the communityMay assist children to feed themselvesMay be assigned in more than one school locationAssists with playground supervisionWorks cooperatively with students, school district staff, and administration while performing assigned duties and responsibilitiesReinforces lessons/activities with small groups of learnersAssists school staff in crisis intervention and disciplineParticipates in program planning meetings at the request of the school staffPerforms other job-related work as requiredQualifications:Ability to:Understand and anticipate the needs of childrenOperate classroom technology equipmentUnderstand and follow oral and written instructionsEstablish and maintain effective working relationships with children and adultsMaintain professionalism and confidentialityShow competence and assist with academic skills, e.g. reading and mathCommunicate orally with correct language usageKnowledge of:The general needs and behavior patterns of childrenSafe work practicesCorrect English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuationNeeds and concerns of children with a variety of special needsPerform general clerical duties at the request of supervisorSkills:Read and understand instructions, follow and give clear directionsWork independently and make decisions within the framework of established guidelinesAdapt to individual needs of school staff and students and work with interruptionsIdentifying and responding quickly to emergency situations in a calm and resourceful mannerEstablishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of workExperience:Recent experience in working with groups such as youth groups, child centers, or playgrounds and/or experience requiring organizational skills is desirable.Education:Proof of High School Diploma or equivalency; or proof of an A.A. degree, 48 college units; or pass the Paraeducator ExamPhysical, Mental, and Environmental Demands:Physical:Sitting, walking level surface, reaching, bending, use of both legsWrist/arm motion, grasping/holding, use of both handsRegularly lift 1-15 lbs. *occasionally lift 26-40 lbsRegularly carry/push 1-15 lbs *occasionally carry/push 26-40 lbsColor vision, near vision, use of both eyesSense of smellNormal hearing, distinguish sounds in transmissionSpeakingMental:Occasional stress of emergencies, normal work standards stress, ability to work with interruption, reading, interpreting policy, memorize and recall objects, people, analyze problems and generate alternativesWorking Environment:Occasional exposure to the sun, occasional wetness, dust, occasional exposure to childhood diseasesRequirements/Conditions of Employment:ResumeComplete a mandatory Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT) Training (Provided)Complete mandatory training as designated by BEAMSchedule:MorningsMonday to FridayNo weekendsAbility to commute/relocate:Montebello Unified School DistrictReliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)Your assignment might vary from district to district and school to schoolExperience:Behavioral Therapist/Interventionist: 1 year (Required)LocationMontebello UnifiedDepartmentNew HireEmployment TypePart-TimeMinimum ExperienceEntry-levelCompensation20-25
