Title: Behavior Technician (BT) / Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)
Location: Pleasant Hill and neighboring cities within 15 miles of your home (services are provided in client homes and in community settings)
Reports To: Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) / Program Supervisor (PS)
Employment Type: Part-time, with potential to increase to full-time
Start Date: ASAP
Behavia Therapy is seeking passionate and dependable Behavior Technicians (BTs) to provide high-quality, in-home and community-based Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services to children and adolescents diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and related developmental delays.
BTs work one-on-one with clients and their families, implementing treatment plans developed by a BCBA in alignment with California's Behavioral Health Treatment (BHT) guidelines and insurance-based ABA mandates. While no prior certification is required to apply, employees must obtain their Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification within 90 days of hire. Behavia Therapy provides paid training, supervision, and exam preparation to support this career milestone.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver individualized ABA therapy services in accordance with client treatment plans
- Implement skill acquisition and behavior reduction strategies under BCBA supervision
- Collect accurate data using electronic data systems (or paper data if needed)
- Participate in clinical supervision for a minimum of 5% of client face-to-face hours
- Maintain session notes and progress documentation per California state and funder requirements
- Support parent training and generalization goals as guided by BCBA
- Ensure compliance with California privacy laws (HIPAA) and agency policies
- Attend required staff trainings and team meetings (in-person or virtual)
- Travel to assigned client sessions (typically within a 10–25 mile radius of your home)
Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- RBT certification required within 90 days of hire (Behavia Therapy covers training, supervision, and exam preparation to support you)
- Valid California Driver's License, reliable transportation, and current car insurance
- Ability to pass DOJ Live Scan fingerprint background check (as required in CA)
- Negative TB test within the past 3 months.
- Current CPR/First Aid Certification (must meet pediatric standards). If you do not already have certification, Behavia Therapy will cover the cost and support you in completing it within the first 30 days of hire.
Preferred:
- Prior experience providing ABA services or working with children with special needs preferred
- High School Diploma required, Preferred Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Child Development, Education, or related field
- Bilingual in Spanish, Mandarin, ASL, or other in-demand languages (preferred, not required)

- Ability to sit on the floor, move quickly, stand for extended periods, kneel, jump up, and lift up to 40 pounds

- Familiar with mandated reporter responsibilities and child safety protocols (training provided)

Work Conditions
- Work is primarily conducted in clients' homes or schools
- Schedule includes afternoons, evenings, and possible weekends (based on client availability)
- May involve driving to multiple client homes per day
- Service areas may include Walnut Creek, Concord, Lafayette, Clayton and Martinez
