Job Title: Shift Supervisor

Department: Production and Environmental

General Statement of Job:

Responsible for executing all activities associated with this job in a safe manner. Also responsible for ensuring 100% compliance in all regulatory guidelines set by the company and appropriate agencies. Also to maintain adherence to all rail safety guidelines, identifying deficiencies as well as defining the subsequent corrective actions. The Night Shift Supervisor will play a vital role in achieving key KPI metrics utilizing their direct reports and communicating with upper management. This will primarily be achieved through growing and developing the operators responsible for the appropriate areas as well as initiating cross-training where applicable. Shifts are 12 hours and may be day shifts or night shifts.

Essential Duties:

• Good communication with management and all employees on site.
• Able to learn the HMI and have good communication skills over the two-way radio.
• Able to work with a team and work alongside supervisors as well as Engineers and other Managers.
• Able to learn and understand trend analysis gathered from PI Vision as it pertains to key assets in Plant.
• Able to learn and locate all equipment as it relates to operating and maintaining the Production Areas
• Assist the Operations Manager and Master Trainers in developing and training Personnel in the expectations of their designated position.
• Initiate and execute PD Rail inspections and engage in rapid problem solving on any deficiencies.
• Demonstrate an ability to lead investigations into process failures, including using tools such as 5-why analysis, Object/Defect, etc.
• Demonstrate the ability to shovel, hammer and safely lift up to 45-50 pounds.
• Help ensure that operators have a sufficient inventory of parts/supplies to perform their job duties.
• Attend and participate in key Operations Meetings, including, but not limited to: Safety review Meeting, Process review meeting, Daily morning stand up meeting, and day shift kick off meeting.
• Required to assist in coverage for Shift Supervisor in cases where there is no Supervisor on shift (i.e. vacation, emergency, etc).
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (especially excel), is preferred.

Working Conditions:

Continuous exposure to several disagreeable elements due to the process of EAF dust, lead, cadmium, heat, and weather.
