Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and proactive Yard Manager to oversee daily operations at our warehouse facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing inventory, coordinating transportation, and ensuring efficient warehouse distribution processes. This role requires strong leadership skills, expertise in supply chain management, and the ability to optimize logistics workflows to support seamless order fulfillment and materials handling. The Yard Manager will play a critical role in maintaining safety standards, improving operational efficiency, and supporting overall supply chain objectives.
Responsibilities
- Oversee yard operations including shipping & receiving, order picking, packing, and dispatching activities.
- Manage inventory control through effective warehouse management systems.
- Coordinate transportation planning and fleet management to ensure timely delivery and pickup of goods.
- Supervise warehouse staff, including forklift operators, materials handlers, and dispatchers.
- Implement process improvements to optimize warehouse operations, reduce costs, and increase productivity.
- Monitor freight movements and collaborate with 3PL providers for logistics efficiency.
- Conduct demand planning and sourcing activities to ensure adequate stock levels aligned with sales forecasts.
- Maintain compliance with safety regulations and ensure proper materials handling procedures are followed.
- Utilize data analysis skills and supply chain analytics to identify trends and improve overall operations.
- Manage procurement activities including pricing negotiations and category management strategies.
- Support e-commerce order fulfillment processes and packaging operations to meet customer expectations.
Requirements
- Proven experience in warehouse management, logistics, or supply chain operations.
- Experience with skill saw and or machinery.
- Ability to operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely; relevant certifications preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
- Knowledge of materials handling, packaging, shipping & receiving procedures, and category management strategies.
