Job Summary
The Safety Associate works within the Safety and Compliance department to ensure all Federal, State, and Local laws are met throughout the company’s operations. Attention to detail and interpersonal skills are key elements to a successful employee in this department. This is an administrative position and will need to be in the office full-time. The salary range is $17 - $19 per hour.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Directly and indirectly audits drivers and equipment to ensure they meet FMCSA and DOT regulations
- Associate follows instructions set forth by documented Standard Operating Procedures to ensure all associates, drivers, and equipment meet/exceed standards
- Ability to troubleshoot problems and make informed decisions based on fact-finding details
- High accuracy rate and an excellent attention-to-detail mindset
- Enjoys working as a team in a team setting to produce the best in class quality for the company
- Strong verbal communication skills used to interact with drivers and peers
- Ability to read and learn new compliance-related job duties as they change in the industry
- Self-motivated to complete tasks and find more effective ways to problem solve.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year’s experience in the transportation industry
- Knowledge of DOT regulations regarding Driver qualifications and requirements
- Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, Hazardous Material Regulations, Drug & Alcohol
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- This job is performed primarily in an office environment but may be performed in other environments such as trucking garages, parking facilities, and possibly on the side of a highway. A person in this position may be exposed to dirty, Diesel engine noise and fumes as well as many different temperatures and weather patterns.
- Work is conducted both in an office as well as outside in many different weather conditions. Work may involve standing, crouching, crawling, lifting, and carrying objects. A person must be able to lift and carry an object weighing as much as 35 lbs.
