About the Position

Beehive Homes of Smyrna Memory Care is looking for a creative, energetic, compassionate, and dependable Activity Coordinator to lead meaningful activities and experiences for our residents.

This is more than planning activities — it is about getting to know our residents, learning what brings them joy, and creating opportunities for connection, purpose, laughter, movement, and engagement.

The ideal candidate is outgoing, creative, patient, organized, and comfortable working with individuals living with dementia and memory loss. We are looking for someone who can bring energy into the home while also understanding that activities must be adapted to each resident's abilities, interests, and needs.

Responsibilities

Plan and lead a consistent daily and weekly activity program for residents.

Develop activities that encourage socialization, cognitive stimulation, physical movement, creativity, reminiscence, and emotional well-being.

Adapt activities to different cognitive and physical abilities.

Create meaningful one-on-one activities for residents who may not participate in larger group activities.

Lead activities such as games, crafts, music, exercise, puzzles, baking, gardening, movies, social gatherings, and reminiscence activities.

Incorporate residents' personal interests, hobbies, backgrounds, and life experiences into activities.

Coordinate special events, celebrations, birthdays, holidays, and resident-centered experiences.

Encourage residents to participate while respecting individual preferences and abilities.

Create and maintain an engaging monthly activity calendar.

Prepare activity materials and maintain an organized activity area.

Document activities and resident participation as required.

Communicate with caregivers and management regarding resident interests, participation, and changes in engagement.

Build positive relationships with residents and their families.

Help create a warm, fun, active, and welcoming atmosphere throughout the home.

Comfortable leading groups and interacting one-on-one with residents.

Previous experience in senior living, memory care, activities, recreation, childcare, education, hospitality, or a related field is preferred but not required.

Most importantly, we are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys spending time with seniors and wants to make their days better.
