Position Summary
The Maintenance Technician plays a dual role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of the Beechwood facility. This position is responsible for general porter duties such as floor care, trash removal, and light cleaning (40%), as well as assisting with routine maintenance tasks including minor repairs, equipment upkeep, and facility inspections (60%).
You’ll be proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
Light Maintenance Duties (60%)
Perform minor repairs such as changing light bulbs, tightening fixtures, and patching walls.
Assist with preventative maintenance tasks and inspections.
Support HVAC filter changes, plumbing checks, and basic carpentry.
Monitor and report equipment malfunctions or facility issues.
Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
Help set up or move furniture and equipment as needed.
Porter Duties (40%)
Perform floor care including sweeping, mopping, buffing, and vacuuming.
Clean and sanitize common areas, hallways, stairwells, and restrooms.
Collect and dispose of trash, recycling, and soiled linens.
Assist with high dusting and occasional outdoor cleaning tasks.
Operate cleaning equipment such as vacuums, buffers, and extractors.
Follow safety procedures and use cleaning chemicals properly.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
2 years of experience in custodial or maintenance work. Healthcare facility a plus.
Ability to communicate clearly in English, verbally and in writing.
Basic knowledge of hand tools and maintenance procedures.
Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as bending, climbing, and standing for extended periods.
Must pass drug test and background check
Work Environment
Indoor and occasional outdoor work in a healthcare or residential setting.
Exposure to cleaning chemicals, noise from equipment, and varying temperatures.
Must be comfortable working with residents and staff in a respectful and professional manner.
