Responsibilities
- Perform thorough cleaning of floors, restrooms, offices, hallways, and common areas using appropriate cleaning equipment such as floor buffers and vacuums.
- Handle chemical agents safely, following all chemical handling safety procedures to ensure a secure environment.
- Conduct janitorial duties including trash removal, dusting, mopping, sweeping, and disinfecting surfaces to maintain sanitation standards.
- Operate cleaning machinery and equipment efficiently while adhering to safety protocols.
- Assist with light maintenance tasks such as minor repairs or residential painting to support overall facility upkeep.
- Follow safe lifting practices when handling heavy items or equipment during manual handling tasks.
- Maintain detailed records of cleaning activities and report any safety hazards or maintenance needs promptly.
Skills
- Proven experience in custodial or janitorial roles with knowledge of commercial cleaning practices is a plus but training will be provided.
- Strong understanding of cleaning techniques, sanitation standards, and chemical agent handling safety procedures.
- Ability to operate various cleaning equipment including floor buffers, vacuums, and other custodial tools.
- Excellent manual handling skills with a focus on safe lifting practices and heavy lifting techniques.
- Customer service orientation with the ability to interact professionally with staff and students when needed.
- Basic facilities maintenance skills including minor repairs and industrial cleaning tasks.
- Knowledge of safety protocols related to chemical handling, sanitation procedures, and general workplace safety.
