POSITION SUMMARY
The Middle School In-School Suspension (ISS) Paraprofessional is responsible for supervising students assigned to ISS while supporting their academic progress and promoting appropriate behavior. This position ensures a structured, respectful, and productive environment that aligns with school expectations and policies.
Essential Functions
- Supervise and monitor students assigned to ISS throughout the school day
- Maintain a structured, orderly, and distraction-free environment
- Enforce school and district behavior policies consistently and fairly
- Assist students with completing assigned academic work
- Communicate with teachers to obtain assignments and clarify expectations
- Keep accurate records of student attendance, behavior, and completed work
- Provide redirection and support to promote positive behavior and decision-making
- Collaborate with administrators and counselors regarding student needs
- Ensure confidentiality of student information at all times
- Assist with transitions, arrival/dismissal, and other duties as assigned
- Assist teachers as needed to support student activities.
- Adhere to all policies of the District.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education: High School Diploma or GED
Experience: No prior experience necessary
Computer Skills: Shall be able to demonstrate an acceptable level of
proficiency with computers and programs
associated with the position.
Other Requirements:
1. Successful completion of pre-employment background checks.
2. Appropriate personal and professional conduct at all times while around students and other staff members.
