Bee Line is seeking a motivated and dependable Shop Assistant with an interest in mechanics to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with their hands and is looking to build a career in the heavy diesel industry.
The ideal candidate will have some experience in a garage, shop, or mechanical environment, preferably around diesel engines, trucks, or heavy equipment. At Bee Line, we believe in developing talent from within. This role provides hands-on experience and training to help you grow into a Heavy Diesel Mechanic position.
Pay Range: $18 – $22 per hour (based on experience)
Key Responsibilities
Shop Support
- Assist mechanics by retrieving tools, parts, and shop supplies.
- Prepare vehicles and equipment for service and repairs.
- Perform basic maintenance tasks under supervision such as draining fluids or replacing filters.
- Maintain shop cleanliness, organization, and safety standards.
- Sweep floors, remove trash, and power wash shop areas as needed.
Wash Bay Operations
- Maintain the wash bay and perform truck and trailer washes.
- Operate pressure washers, hand brushes, and cleaning equipment.
- Clean vehicle interiors and exteriors before or after repairs.
- Ensure vehicles are properly prepared prior to entering the shop.
- Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies and chemicals.
General Shop Duties
- Properly dispose of used fluids, filters, and parts in accordance with environmental regulations.
- Support the pickup or delivery of parts and materials when needed.
- Operate forklifts, shop equipment, or company vehicles if properly licensed.
- Follow all company safety procedures and wear required PPE at all times.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or technicians.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Prior experience in a shop, garage, or labor environment is a plus.
- Basic understanding of hand tools and mechanical equipment.
- Strong work ethic with a willingness to learn and grow in the trade.
- Ability to follow directions and work well in a team environment.
- Valid driver’s license preferred.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds, bend, squat, and stand for extended periods.
