THE INS AND OUTS OF THIS ANIMAL CARE ROLE
You'll work 36 - 40 hours per week, with no weekends! Our clinic is open:
- Monday and Wednesday from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm
- Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm
As our Vet Tech, you'll work closely with our animal care team, performing essential tasks like preparing for surgeries, assisting with surgical procedures, placing IVs and catheters, taking X-rays, and performing venipuncture. When you're not assisting with medical treatments, you'll engage with pet owners, offering guidance on preventative care and answering their questions. You'll also play a key role in front desk operations, answering phones, scheduling appointments, and maintaining health records. Maintaining a clean and welcoming environment will also be part of your daily routine-feeding, walking, and caring for pets, as well as keeping enclosures tidy. Whether you're directly involved in patient care or supporting our front-end operations, you'll always be making a positive impact on the animals and their owners.
All that we need from you is the following:
- Veterinary Assisting experience
- Possesses a thorough understanding of patient care
- Expertise in conducting detailed history-taking for exams
- Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, medication, and diagnostics
- Effectively communicates the full benefits of recommended dental services
- Adept at educating clients on the importance of vaccines and the use of heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives
- Strong communication, time management, detail-oriented, and customer service skills
- Team player
We'd prefer a candidate with at least one year of surgical assisting experience, but we will train the right person! Experience taking X-rays, performing dental prophylaxis, or using Shepherd software would be a bonus.
