Job Summary:
The Controller is responsible for leading the organization’s accounting operations, ensuring the integrity of financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and alignment with business objectives. This role oversees financial close processes, internal controls, and reporting accuracy while providing strategic financial insights to support decision-making, operational efficiency, and long-term growth.
Essential Functions (included but not limited to):
- Oversee all day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timeliness across all financial activities
- Lead the full-cycle monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, including account reconciliations, journal entries, variance analysis, and financial statement preparation
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting in accordance with GAAP, including the preparation of balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure regulatory compliance
- Own and manage the external audit process, serving as the primary point of contact for auditors and ensuring timely completion of all audit deliverables
- Oversee tax compliance and coordination, including partnership with external tax advisors on filings, planning, and regulatory requirements
- Drive the annual budgeting process and ongoing forecasting cycles, partnering with department leaders to align financial plans with business objectives
- Monitor and manage company cash flow, including forecasting, liquidity planning, and working capital optimization
- Analyze financial performance, identify trends, risks, and opportunities, and provide actionable insights and recommendations to executive leadership
- Partner cross-functionally with operations, sales, and other departments to support decision-making, cost management, and performance improvement initiatives
- Evaluate, implement, and optimize financial systems, ERP platforms, and reporting tools to improve efficiency, scalability, and data visibility
- Establish and maintain financial reporting dashboards and KPIs to track business performance and support strategic planning
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including financial reporting standards and internal governance requirements
- Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team, setting clear expectations, driving accountability, and building a high-performance culture
- Identify and drive continuous improvement initiatives across accounting and finance processes, including automation, standardization, and operational efficiencies
- Support strategic business initiatives by providing financial analysis, insights, and recommendations to leadership
- Partner closely with the CFO to support special projects, strategic initiatives, and ad hoc financial analysis as needed
- Maintain documentation of accounting policies, procedures, and controls to ensure consistency, audit readiness, and knowledge sharing

Minimum Requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- HS Diploma or GED
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and have IDs needed to verify
- English proficient (reading, writing, speaking, comprehension)
- Successful completion of a criminal background check is required
Preferred Education/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA certification strongly preferred
- 8 years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities
- Experience in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment
- Experience with ERP systems and process optimization initiatives
