Objective
Assists patients to achieve or maintain their highest practicable level of ADL function through consistent, structured and controlled re-teaching and retraining techniques to promote increased participation in activities of daily living.
Principal Responsibilities
- Receives assignment from supervisor and performs duties in accordance with each patient’s detailed plan of care, providing care to patients who are presently receiving restorative ADL nursing interventions.
- Receives training from therapists and supervisors on the restorative techniques and performs techniques
- Checks patients in section regularly; Answers call lights promptly; Follows through with patient problems or needs by delivering care or reporting to Supervisor depending upon level of ability and nature of patient need.
- Maintains knowledge of patient’s condition at times. Notes significant changes in the condition of patients and takes appropriate action; Identifies emergency situations and responds with appropriate measures.
- Explains procedures to patient before administering.
- Takes and records temperature, pulse, respiration, intake and output; Reports patient incidents to immediate supervisor; Communicates requests and problems to appropriate personnel; Takes BPs upon request by Supervisor.
- Performs any miscellaneous work assignments as may be required.
- Successful completion of State Approved Nursing Assistant Training and Competency Evaluation Program; Name must appear on State Registry as Nursing Assistant in good standing. Successful completion of restorative training. Ability to communicate with patients and nursing staff; Ability to read and write, desirable.
- One-year experience as Nursing Assistant or Physical Therapist Assistant, preferred
