Role Description
The VA Bedford Healthcare System located in Bedford, MA is seeking a PhD scientist to conduct research in neurodegenerative diseases. The Scientist is one component of a research team. The primary function of this position is to explore the molecular mechanism of Alzheimer’s disease pathogenesis and therapeutic development using blood, cerebrospinal fluids, brain tissue and induced pluripotent stem cell-derived three-dimensional neuronal tissue. The Scientist will report to the Principal Investigator.
Qualifications
- Two years of prior experience in operating one of four platforms including triple quadrupole Mass Spectrometer (MS), Orbitrap MS, CyTOF MS, or Imaging MS in the lab required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- PhD in a relevant field such as neuroscience, biomedical sciences, or related disciplines preferred.
- Commitment to advancing innovative approaches to improving Veteran care and overall health outcomes a plus.
- Self-motivated and vigilant
- Broad knowledge of research principles, practices, and techniques
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Knowledge of standards for conducting research, as well as knowledge and experience working with research monitoring committees
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to systematically organize research data
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- Must have clearance to work in a government facility, fingerprinting required.
This position is based in Bedford, MA, and requires onsite presence five days a week to facilitate close collaboration with our internal team.
