Custodian (part-time)

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Part-Time Custodian to join our team and help maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. In this role, you will be responsible for performing a variety of cleaning and custodial tasks across our facilities, ensuring all areas are kept in excellent condition. Your proactive approach and attention to detail will contribute significantly to the overall safety and appearance of our premises, creating a positive experience for staff, visitors, and clients alike.

Duties

• Perform routine cleaning duties including sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, and trash removal to maintain cleanliness standards.
• Operate cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, scrubbers, and vacuums with precision and care.
• Handle chemical agents safely by following proper chemical handling safety procedures and sanitation protocols.
• Conduct heavy lifting tasks using safe lifting practices to move furniture, supplies, or equipment as needed.
• Maintain floors through buffing, polishing, and other floor care techniques to ensure a polished appearance.
• Assist with facilities maintenance tasks such as minor repairs or reporting larger issues to the appropriate personnel.
• Follow safety protocols diligently during all custodial activities to prevent accidents or injuries.
• Support industrial or commercial cleaning projects as required, including specialized cleaning procedures for different environments.
• Ensure all cleaning supplies and equipment are stored properly and maintained in good working order.

Skills

• Proven experience in custodial or janitorial roles with knowledge of commercial cleaning procedures.
• Strong understanding of cleaning techniques including sanitation standards and floor care methods.
• Ability to handle chemical agents safely while adhering to safety protocol guidelines.
• Skilled in operating various cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, scrubbers, and vacuums.
• Excellent manual handling skills with a focus on safe lifting practices for heavy objects.
• Customer service orientation with the ability to interact professionally with staff and visitors when needed.
• Experience with facilities maintenance tasks or industrial cleaning is a plus.
• Knowledge of chemical handling safety procedures and sanitation standards.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high-quality standards.
