Middle School Girls Swim Coach
Position Overview:
Bedford Middle School is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Middle School Girls Swim Coach to lead and develop our girls swim program. The Coach will play a vital role in introducing and building fundamental swimming skills, promoting sportsmanship, and fostering a positive team environment for middle school student-athletes. Responsibilities:
Coaching: Plan and conduct swim practices with an emphasis on fundamental skill development, stroke technique, water safety, and overall swimming basics. Provide instruction on swim techniques, rules, and introductory strategies appropriate for middle school athletes.
Meet Preparation: Prepare swimmers for meets by organizing entries, teaching event expectations, and helping athletes understand competition structure and sportsmanship.
Player Development: Provide individualized instruction and encouragement to help student-athletes improve their skills, confidence, and understanding of the sport.
Attendance: Attend all team practices, swim meets, and related events, which may include occasional evening or weekend commitments.
Team Culture: Foster a positive, inclusive, and development-focused team environment that emphasizes sportsmanship, teamwork, respect, and personal growth.
Team Management: Assist in organizing team communications, events, and any program-related activities that support the swim team.
Academic Monitoring: Encourage student-athletes to maintain academic success and positive behavior in the school environment.
Compliance: Ensure adherence to school and district policies regarding student conduct, safety, and eligibility.
Logistics: Manage and maintain swim equipment, assist with scheduling, and perform other duties necessary for the operation of the swim program.
Qualifications:
Swimming Experience: Previous swimming experience preferred, with a basic understanding of swim techniques, rules, and safety practices.
Coaching Experience: Coaching experience is preferred, particularly with youth or middle school-aged students.
Communication Skills: Strong communication skills to effectively interact with student-athletes, parents, staff, and administration.
Leadership: Ability to demonstrate patience, positivity, and leadership while working with middle school students.
Player Development: Commitment to developing foundational skills and confidence in young athletes.
Inclusivity: Dedication to creating a supportive and inclusive environment for all participants.
Availability: Available for after-school practices and scheduled meets or events.
Requirements:
-Valid coaching certifications or a willingness to obtain required certifications.
-Completion of background checks and all required clearances in accordance with school district policies.
