Job Opening: Utility Worker
Location: Bedford County Utility District
Bedford County Utility District is seeking a dedicated and hardworking Utility Worker to join our team. This position plays an important role in providing safe, reliable water and natural gas services to our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of water and natural gas distribution systems
Operate and maintain utility equipment, tools, and vehicles safely and efficiently
Perform service line connections, meter installations, leak detection, and routine system checks
Respond to service calls, emergencies, and customer requests in a professional manner
Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience in water and/or natural gas distribution
Knowledge of utility safety standards and procedures
Ability to operate excavation and construction equipment
Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
CDL or ability to obtain one is a plus
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
Willingness to work after-hours, weekends, and be on-call as needed
Must pass a background check and drug screening
