Bedford Child Development Center is seeking a caring, dependable, and experienced Lead Toddler Teacher for our one-year-old classroom.

The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for early childhood education and understand the unique developmental needs of toddlers. This position requires an educator who can provide a safe, nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment while building positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers.

Bedford Child Development Center is a locally owned, play-based early childhood program that has served families in our community since 2005. Our teachers are valued professionals who make a meaningful difference in the lives of young children every day.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must:

  • Hold a current Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) in Early Childhood Education or a higher early childhood degree
  • Have previous experience working with toddlers in a licensed childcare or early childhood setting
  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Meet all State of Michigan childcare licensing requirements
  • Be able to pass a comprehensive background check
  • Be willing to complete required health, safety, and professional development training
  • Maintain current CPR and First Aid certification or complete certification within the required timeframe
  • Demonstrate dependable attendance, professionalism, patience, and strong communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Create a loving, responsive, and secure environment for one-year-old children
  • Plan and implement developmentally appropriate, play-based learning experiences
  • Use the Creative Curriculum to support children’s physical, cognitive, language, social, and emotional development
  • Provide attentive sight-and-sound supervision at all times
  • Follow all classroom ratios, health procedures, diapering procedures, sanitation requirements, and licensing regulations
  • Maintain a clean, organized, welcoming, and developmentally appropriate classroom
  • Establish consistent classroom routines while responding to each child’s individual needs
  • Support children in developing early communication, independence, self-regulation, and social-emotional skills
  • Use positive guidance strategies consistent with Conscious Discipline
  • Complete lesson plans, child observations, developmental documentation, and classroom records
  • Communicate professionally and respectfully with families regarding their child’s daily experiences and development
  • Enter accurate daily reports, meals, diaper changes, naps, activities, and photos into the Playground childcare app
  • Work collaboratively with assistant teachers, administrators, and other classroom staff
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, center events, and team-building activities
  • Follow all Bedford Child Development Center policies and procedures.

Pay: $17.00 - $18.28 per hour
