Preschool Teacher

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides overall leadership in the classroom, develops and implements program curriculum, creates an environment that celebrates diversity, equity and inclusion for all, and provides a quality experience for both children and parents that focuses on the YMCA values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Implements curriculum within the established guidelines.

2. Designs and implements daily lesson/activity plans with the ELC Director.

3. Supervises the children, classroom, and all activities.

4. Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.

5. Conducts parent conferences and maintains positive relationships and effective communication
with parents.

6. Maintains a clean and organized program site, supplies and equipment.

7. Maintains program records and notes on children’s progress.

8. Attends and participates in program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.

9. Maintians a clean and organized environment including but not limited to the following: Cleans tables before and after snack, cleans floors after snack and other activities, disinfect and cleans toys and activity areas, cleans bathrooms at the end of AM and PM sessions.

10. Report all program changes to the Early Learning Center Director.

11. Share problems and concerns of children and parents with the ELC Director so they can be resolved.

12. Report to the ELC Director any difficult or unusual situations.

GENERAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Provide leadership and guidance for one or more specific activities.

2. Provide growth and development opportunities for each participant.

3. Provide an enjoyable experience for each participant.

4. Set a good example in promptness, manners, language, appearance and health.

5. Set a good example in respect and care for our environment, indoors and out.
