Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. This role involves handling various breeds of dogs, ensuring their well-being, and assisting with daily operations in the kennel.
Responsibilities
- Provide daily care for animals, including feeding, grooming, and exercising dogs.
- Maintain cleanliness of kennels and common areas to ensure a hygienic environment.
- Monitor the health and behavior of animals, reporting any concerns to staff.
- Assist in administering medications
- Support dog training sessions and reinforce positive behaviors.
- Engage with pet owners to provide updates on their pets and address any questions or concerns.
- Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques when necessary.
- Assist with heavy lifting of supplies, equipment, and animals as needed.
Requirements
- Previous experience in animal handling or care is preferred but not a requirement (kennel experience is a plus).
- Familiarity with dog training techniques and veterinary practices is beneficial.
- Strong customer service skills to effectively communicate with pet owners.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and physical tasks associated with animal care.
- Experience in pet grooming, pet sitting, or veterinary assistant roles is advantageous.
- A compassionate attitude towards animals and a commitment to their welfare is essential.
