Position Summary
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for managing the procurement process to ensure materials are purchased efficiently, cost-effectively, and delivered on time to support production requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
· Manage day-to-day purchasing activities, including obtaining quotes, processing purchase orders, and communicating with suppliers.
· Negotiate pricing, lead times, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
· Analyze inventory levels and purchasing trends, and material requirements to balance material availability with inventory investment.
· Maintain accurate purchase order records and ensure timely updates in the MRP system.
· Monitor price variances (MPV) and address/resolve discrepancies.
· Track material pipeline to ensure MRP requirements are met and production schedules are supported.
· Coordinate overseas shipments and monitor international orders to support quality, cost and delivery objectives.
· Identify opportunities to improve purchasing processes, procedures, and overall supply-chain efficiency.
· Lead, mentor and develop purchasing team members.
Required Skills:
· Minimum of 5 year’s purchasing management or procurement experience in a manufacturing setting
· Strong understanding of MRP/ERP systems and inventory management principles
· Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple projects and adapt to changing requirements in a dynamic manufacturing setting.
· Proficient in Microsoft Excel
· Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
· Strong cross-functional collaboration and relationship-building abilities.
