BeckThom HR Consulting, LLC is a professional HR consulting firm specializing in human resources, human capital management, employee benefits, total compensation, classification, and program consulting services for public and private sectors. Our firm has advanced to the competitive proposal stage for a public utility client engagement on Employee Benefits and Total Compensation Consulting Services. We are seeking an experienced Employee Wellness Specialist with public sector experience to join our project team.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in health promotion, public health, exercise science, nutrition, health education, psychology, or health care administration.
- A wellness-related certification (e.g., Certified Wellness Practitioner (CWP), Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), WELCOA Faculty, or comparable credential) is preferred but NOT REQUIRED.
Experience Requirements
- Minimum of three (3) years of progressive experience in employee wellness, health promotion, or population health management.
- Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and evaluating wellness programs that include biometric screenings, Health Risk Assessments (HRAs), and incentive-based participation strategies.
- Experience coordinating with benefits carriers, EAP vendors, and third-party wellness platforms.
- Familiarity with the Northern Virginia / DMV regional labor market and public or private sectors wellness benchmarking is preferred, but not required.
Key Responsibilities
Wellness Program Design & Delivery
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive employee wellness and population health management programs covering physical activity, nutrition, mental health, preventative screenings, immunizations, financial wellness, and social health.
- Design and administer wellness incentive plans that drive participation and produce measurable health outcomes.
- Provide guidance on Employee Assistance Program (EAP) offerings and integrate behavioral health resources into the broader wellness strategy.
Program Analytics & Evaluation
- Analyze and evaluate wellness and population health management programs on an ongoing basis; recommend improvements to plan design, processes, and supporting technology.
- Track program participation, engagement, and outcomes; prepare written reports and oral presentations for senior management and the Board of Directors.
Communications, Vendor & Compliance Support
- Develop and deliver wellness campaigns and educate client employees and retirees on wellness programs and resources available through current carriers.
- Serve as liaison between the client, employees, and wellness vendors for program coordination, member advocacy, and issue resolution.
- Ensure wellness program activities comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including HIPAA, ADA, GINA, and ACA wellness requirements.
Preferred Qualifications – But Not Required
- Familiarity with peer organizations in the DMV region, including Alexandria Renew, Arlington County, DC Water, Fairfax County, Fairfax Water, Loudoun County, Loudoun Water, and Prince William County.
- Experience designing wellness programs that integrate with self-insured health plan strategy and claims experience analysis.
- Experience supporting mental health and behavioral health initiatives in a workplace setting.
- Established professional references able to speak to prior wellness program design and delivery within the RFP scope.
