What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lab Technician I position at Beckett Thermal Solutions?
The Lab Technician supports engineers by setting up and conducting hands-on tests on gas appliances, maintaining equipment, collecting data, reporting results, and providing feedback on test plans to engineers. This role also calibrates and performs routine maintenance on the equipment and instruments used in collecting test data. The position works at both the Strongsville and North Ridgeville locations.
What your role will entail:
- Ensure overall performance and behaviors are consistent with Beckett Thermal Solutions' Purpose Statement, Core Values and Guiding Principles.
- Calibrate and maintain instruments used in testing and data collection.
- Collaborate with product engineering to execute a test plan for a specific appliance.
- Install and/or modify components of customers' appliances under test.
- Collect, document, and analyze test data from an appliance and share test results with engineers.
- Spot welds thermocouples to heat exchangers or other elements within the appliance.
- Troubleshoot appliances at initial startup and throughout the development program.
- Package and ship sample items to customers at the direction of engineering.
- Program, troubleshoot, and operate data acquisition systems for data collection.
- Set up and tear down appliances for testing.
- Develop and maintain a working knowledge of all pertinent ANSI testing standards.
- Help with continuous improvement of lab processes and equipment to support test requirements and overall product development.
- Ensure a clean, safe and organized laboratory environment, complying with safety protocols.
- Establish priorities for managing own work while staying on a focused, efficient path for achieving results.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
