Qualifications:
College hours for Title I campus 48 required or a score of 464 on the ParaPro test
College hours, high school diploma or GED required for Non-Title I campus
Paraprofessional aide certificate required once employed
Ability to work with students and staff
Ability to manage a flexible schedule
School experience or volunteer experience preferred
Strong organizational skills
Ability to work within deadlines
Primary Purpose:
The primary purpose of this position is to collaborate with the Campus EB Specialist, ESL teacher, and core content-area teacher(s) to provide high-quality ESL support to secondary emergent bilingual (EB) students ensuring compliance with and alignment to federal, state and local policies and ESL program requirements.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with core content-area teachers and special education teachers to ensure EB students’ linguistic and academic needs are met.
- Facilitate targeted small group instruction based on EB students’ language proficiency levels and individual student needs.
- Understand and implement the state and district’s ESL program model in alignment with policies, rules, and regulations regarding EBs.
- Administer oral and written tests to EB students as needed, including serving on a rotational basis at the EL (English Learner) Testing Center.
- Maintain student confidentiality.
- Participate in professional learning activities for professional growth in job-related skills including content-based language instruction (CBLI) and research-based practices for EBs.
- Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:
Maintain emotional control under stress of frequent interruptions, multiple tasks, deadlines, and technical problems/delays. Occasional changes in working hours for professional development and other events. Frequent standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, pulling and pushing; prolonged use of a computer and repetitive hand motions. Occasional lifting over ten pounds. Exposure to hot and cold temperatures.
