D diagnostic imaging specialist
The diagnostic imaging specialist is responsible for performing x-ray scans of patients internal anatomy to aid physicians in diagnosing illnesses, diseases, or injuries.
Key responsibilities include executing radiologic services in compliance with relevant laws and regulations, providing consultation advice to patients and radiology professionals, delivering patient care and education before, during, and after diagnostic imaging procedures.
Addition ally, the diagnostic imaging specialist interacts with coworkers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of the organization.
Appropriate positioning of radiographic equipment or x-ray film is required to produce images with necessary detail or contrast to assist with diagnosis and treatment.
The diagnostic imaging specialist explains radiographic procedures to patients, obtains complete and accurate histories relevant to the examination being performed, and communicates effectively with patients.
Provision of staff and patient protection in accordance with prescribed radiation safety standards, including placement of shields/aprons to limit radiation exposure, is also a responsibility.
Maintenance of x-ray equipment through scheduled cleaning/tests and documentation of results is another critical task.
The diagnostic imaging specialist maintains and updates patient and study information to ensure billing and RIS/PACS accuracy, handles patient records while maintaining patient confidentiality, and performs other related technologist duties as directed by supervisors or managers.
Continuing education requirements for licenses and job positions must be maintained.
This position requires knowledge of RIS systems and PACS systems.
A graduate degree from an approved American Registry of Radiologic Technologist program or current validated Registry from ARRT in Radiology Technology (R) is required, with ARRT (R), (CT) being preferred.
Salary : $80,000 - $130,000
