Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and caring individual to serve as an On-Call Teacher Aide in our Head Start program. The successful candidate will assist the APIA Head Start Teacher in implementing daily lesson plans, preparing and cleaning up activities, meals, and special projects. This role requires strong communication skills, patience, and a passion for working with young children.
Responsibilities:
• Assist in planning and executing daily lesson plans, activities, and meals
• Provide a safe and nurturing environment for children, supervising them at all times indoors and out
• Model and teach healthy habits, including personal hygiene and self-mastery skills
• Foster positive self-esteem and pride by incorporating children's culture and heritage into daily activities
• Use effective discipline and guidance techniques, including redirection and acknowledgment of appropriate behavior
Requirements:
• At least 19 years old with a high school diploma or equivalent
• One year of experience working with groups of children as a childcare provider or volunteer in a Head Start program
• Physical and mental ability to work with young children and their families
• Willingness to be trained in early childhood development and engage in relevant reading and individual work
• Must provide documentation of current TB test and Hepatitis screening/vaccination status upon hire, as well as pre-employment physical examination, fingerprints, and criminal history background clearance
