Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled CPS Case Manager to join our team in the Social Services Department. As a CPS Case Manager, you will be responsible for conducting investigations of child abuse and neglect, assessing client needs, counseling, and assisting clients; determining available programs and services; preparing and maintaining files and records; and preparing reports.
About the Role:
The ideal candidate will have thorough knowledge of social, economic, and health problems, as well as social institutions and methods of the helping process. You will also have thorough knowledge of child abuse policies and procedures, intervention and treatment techniques, individual and group behavior, and safety measures for protection of self in hostile situations. Additionally, you should be able to plan and organize work, understand and interpret laws, policies, and regulations, communicate effectively with clients, associates, and other professionals, and prepare reports and maintain records.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct CPS Investigations/Family Assessments or manage CPS In-Home/Prevention
- Provide case management to a combined caseload of child protective services ongoing and foster care prevention cases (in-home services)
- Make referrals and coordinate services with community partners
- Complete face-to-face interviews to assess progress in services
- Make announced and unannounced home visits
- Conduct Child Protective Services family assessment of child abuse and neglect complaints, interview children and adults, assess safety, and implement safety plans
- Possess thorough knowledge of social, economic, and health problems, as well as social institutions and methods of the helping process
- Have thorough knowledge of child abuse policies and procedures, intervention and treatment techniques, individual and group behavior, and safety measures for protection of self in hostile situations
- Be able to plan and organize work, understand and interpret laws, policies, and regulations, communicate effectively with clients, associates, and other professionals, and prepare reports and maintain records
Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with major coursework in social work, human services, or a related field
- Considerable local social services agency experience
