- A commitment to the importance of academic excellence and achievement for all student-athletes in the program.
- Demonstrated ability to be a positive leader of the program and develop and instruct young athletes
- A highly tuned ability to communicate effectively to a variety of stakeholders with a variety of methods.
- Skill in organization, teaching, program development, time management, fundraising, and public relations.
- A thorough knowledge of the game of basketball, skill development, training, and coaching techniques
- Manage all aspects of the high school program including- summer training, off-season workouts, tryouts, formation of teams, cuts, practice schedules, culture, calendaring, and routines.
- Hire and train program coaches – establish program expectations, roles, and oversee assistant coaches.
- Provide regular communication with athletes/parents/families/staff, OSAA, League, AD’s office, etc.
- Regularly track the academic progress of all student athletes in the program and facilitate necessary supports to ensure their academic eligibility. Oversee and enforce an academic plan of assistance if one is required.
- Cooperate with and support other school-sponsored sports and encourage athletes to participate in other programs.
- Develop and oversee a relationship with youth basketball programs below the 9th grade level to foster development of the overall program.
- Work with local media as needed and establish strong working relationships with community support groups.
All new hired coaches will need to complete the following prior to employment:
- NFHS Certification.
- First Aid Card.
- District Fingerprinting/Criminal Check.
- Completion of OSAA Concussion Test.
- Completion -OSAA Steroid Program.
- Completion- OSAA Heat Acclimatization/Heat Illness Prevention.
- Completion of All District Requirements, OSAA paperwork, Safe Schools and employment forms.
- Resume
- Letter of application detailing your experience and desire to work with student athletes at BHS.
- A minimum of three letters of recommendation.
- A minimum of five references with contact information.
- Completion of video screening interview.
