JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Sales Assistant

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and abilities required.
· Assist the salesmen in the day-to-day operations of the sales process, from purchase orders to invoicing.
- Assist salesmen in identifying customer needs and business requirements. Interact with customers, compile product and pricing information, take and enter orders, provide follow-up on sales and address customer concerns. Research competitor’s pricing strategies.
· Draft necessary correspondence such as reports, promotional material and sales records.
· Read, sort and route incoming mail, faxes and e-mails. Maintains file systems.
· Experience with packaging and inventory control
· Assist with credit department to keep customers on good credit terms and in good standing.
· Must be able to communicate clearly and accurately, interact with others using tact and diplomacy, and show patience when working with people. Facilitate positive and productive business relationships. Provide a superior level of customer service and sales support to customers. (Internal and external)
· Comfortable occasionally working in cold dock warehouse environment.
· Review complaints concerning billing, service rendered and refer complaints of service failures to designated departments for investigation.
· Involvement in miscellaneous projects, including promotional items and marketing materials.
· Cover phone calls for salesmen when they are out of office. (Traveling, vacation, etc.)
· Assist salesmen in daily administrative tasks, scheduling, coordinating activates and other administrative duties.
- Ability to review and interpret general business memos, reports, procedures and/or governmental regulations with the capability of disseminating that information.
- Ability to problem solve and deal with a variety of situations.
- Proficient with Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment and meet deadlines as required. Must be self-motivated and a self-starter.
- Excellent attendance is a condition of employment.
Working Hours:
BSF sets working hours that comply with local or national laws. In no case shall the regular work week exceed 48 hours. Work hours and pay for time worked for hourly BSF associates are governed by the Fair Labor Standards Act. This policy provides a basis for working hours and none of its provisions shall be construed as a minimum or maximum number of guaranteed hours. Any significant change in an associates work hours, scheduled changes, breaks and/or meal periods will be reviewed with Senior Management prior to implementation.
Generally, office hours will be from 7:00am-6:00pm, offering different start/stop times as determined by departmental needs. Associates may be asked to work after hours or weekends, as business dictates. All overtime is voluntary and should be approved by the Senior Manager of the area, before it is worked. Each associate is allowed a lunch break, and both a morning and afternoon break. Immediate supervisors will establish a lunch schedule for their direct reports.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat. Requires freezer and cooler inspection. Inspection requires exposure to 0 degree temperature for prolonged periods. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelors degree preferred from an accredited four college or university or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bilingual Spanish/English is a plus.
Reporting Relationships:
This position has no supervisory responsibility. This position reports directly to the Sales Managers in the National Sales department.
