POSITION SUMMARY:
The Special Education Secretary provides confidential administrative and clerical support to the
Special Education Department. This position plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with
federal and state regulations, maintaining accurate student records, and supporting the delivery of
services for students with disabilities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Schedule and coordinate IEP meetings, evaluations and re-evaluations in compliance with required timelines
Prepare and distribute required notices, invitations and procedural safeguards
Maintain accurate and confidential special education records (electronic and paper)
Track compliance timelines for IEPs, ETRs and related documentation
Assist with EMIS reporting and date entry for special education
Support Medicaid billing documentation as applicable
Assist in open enrollment required items
Serve as a point of contact for parents, staff and service providers
Prepare correspondence, reports and departmental documents
Provide general clerical support to the Special Education Department
