Position Summary:
The Co-Teacher is responsible for providing a nurturing, safe, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for a range of children ages. This position focuses on promoting physical, emotional, social, and cognitive growth through hands-on exploration, structured routines, and individualized care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and ensure the health, safety, and well-being of toddlers at all times.
- Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that support language development, motor skills, social interaction, and early learning concepts.
- Establish and maintain consistent daily routines, including circle time, story time, sensory play, music, and outdoor exploration.
- Provide individual attention to meet each child’s unique developmental needs.
- Support toddlers in learning self-help skills such as feeding, cleaning up, and beginning toilet readiness (if applicable).
- Communicate daily with parents/guardians about their child’s routines, milestones, and progress.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment.
- Document developmental observations and participate in child assessments as required.
- Follow all licensing regulations, health and safety guidelines, and center policies.
- Collaborate with co-teachers and staff to ensure consistent and high-quality care.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, and sit on the floor to actively engage with toddlers.
- Must be able to lift, carry, and move children and classroom equipment weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to move quickly in response to children’s needs and in emergency situations.
- Must be able to spend extended periods both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Requires sufficient vision, hearing, speech, and mobility to supervise and interact effectively with children.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework or degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.
- Previous experience caring for toddlers in a licensed childcare or educational setting.
- Knowledge of toddler development, positive guidance strategies, and age-appropriate practices.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Must meet all state licensing requirements, including background checks and health screenings.
Work Schedule:
Full-time or part-time schedule based on center needs. Availability Monday through Friday, including some flexibility for training, meetings, or special events.
