Duties and Responsibilities
- Meet with colleagues to plan and prepare lessons/activities.
- Serve and distribute snacks and lunch.
- Enforces camp rules and regulations and ensures safety in the recreational facilities.
- Reports camper complaints to leadership and works to resolve issues.
- Lead activities/lessons.
- Supervise and engage the children during inside and outside recess and play.
- Encourage and guide children as they interact in activities and lessons with other children.
- Help maintain a neat, clean, and organized environment.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Other Responsibilities
- Enthusiastic and positive attitude.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to learn and enforce the camps’ safety and operating rules.
- Must attend staff meetings and orientation during the summer season.
- Be punctual and reliable with attendance
- Provide appropriate programming for the assigned age group, and follow the schedules and themes provided.
- Be comfortable participating in and/or leading lessons/activities
- Be patient, flexible, and able to work collaboratively with children and adults
- Be able to handle challenging behaviors in a way that encourages children to learn from the situation
- Be able to communicate professionally with children, parents, and colleagues
Work Experience
- Experience with and/or education in elementary-aged children
- Willingness to develop professionally
- High dependability with a strong work ethic
General Requirements
- Passing periodic background checks, FBI background check and, at the discretion of the school, drug and alcohol screening
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Mature judgment and discretion; ability to maintain confidentiality and composure under pressure
- Consistent and prompt attendance
- Compliance with the provisions of the Beauvoir Faculty & Staff Handbook
Working Conditions (schedule, Physical Demands, And Work Environment):
- The position is a Summer Job, in-person position
- The position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending and stooping in the performance of daily activities
- For swim instructors, the position requires demonstrating swim techniques, assisting swimmers in the water, and engaging in rescue situations.
- The position requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination.
- The position requires near and far vision for reading and preparing written reports and other documents
- Acute hearing is also required when providing phone assistance
- The need to lift, drag, push and pull files, reports and other materials weighing up to 25 pounds is required
