What are the responsibilities and job description for the Extended Day Staff position at Beauvoir National Cathedral Elementary School | Washington, D.C.?
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum Development and Implementation:
- Design and implement engaging lesson plans and activities that align with program goals and educational standards.
- Foster a positive and supportive learning environment that promotes social, emotional, and academic development.
- Supervision and Guidance:
- Supervise students during all program activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to assistant teachers and volunteers, ensuring effective teamwork and collaboration.
- Community Engagement:
- Communicate regularly with the Auxiliary Team and caregivers regarding student progress, program updates, and upcoming events.
- Collaborate with teachers and school administrators, and families to enhance program offerings and resources.
- Behavior Management:
- Implement effective behavior management strategies to promote positive behavior and resolve conflicts as needed.
- Ensure all program policies and procedures are followed consistently.
- Administrative Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate attendance records and documentation of student progress and achievements.
- Assist in program evaluation and assessment, providing input for continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
- At least two years of college coursework completed.
- Previous experience working with children in an educational or recreational setting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Strong understanding of child development principles and educational best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and staff.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
Additional Requirements:
- Consistently being on time (2:00 p.m. everyday)
- Availability during after-school hours from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. except on holidays and other non-school days such as professional and conference days.
- Work may involve standing, bending, lifting, and outdoor activities.
