Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Insurance Biller and Coder to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately coding medical procedures and diagnoses, managing billing processes, and ensuring timely reimbursement from insurance providers. This role requires a strong understanding of medical coding systems, billing procedures, and medical records management to support the financial health of our practice. Responsibilities
- Review and interpret medical records to assign appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT codes, and DRGs for billing purposes
- Prepare and submit insurance claims accurately using EMR/EHR systems
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims to facilitate timely collections
- Maintain detailed documentation of billing activities and patient records
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and insurance guidelines
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify diagnoses or procedures as needed
- Stay updated on changes in coding standards, insurance policies, and healthcare regulations
- Assist in resolving billing discrepancies and patient inquiries related to insurance claims
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing and coding within a healthcare setting
- Strong knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding, DRGs, and medical terminology
- Familiarity with medical office operations and medical records management
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems and electronic billing platforms
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to interpret complex medical documentation accurately
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations related to billing and coding compliance
- Prior experience with medical collection processes is a plus
- Certification in Medical Coding (such as CPC or CCS) is preferred but not required
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $28.00 per hour
