Chair Car Driver – Beauport Ambulance

Beauport Ambulance is currently hiring Chair Car Drivers in both our Boston and North Shore divisions. We are seeking compassionate, reliable, and professional individuals to join our team in providing non-emergency medical transportation to our community.

Position Overview
Chair Car Drivers at Beauport Ambulance provide safe, professional transportation to ambulatory and mobility-impaired patients traveling to and from medical appointments and facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport patients in wheelchairs, ensuring proper use of all tie-downs and safety restraints
- Deliver courteous, professional service to patients, families, and medical staff
- Maintain cleanliness of assigned vehicle and complete vehicle checklists
- Complete required documentation and patient care reports in a timely manner
- Adhere to all company policies, safety procedures, and training guidelines
- Attend required trainings and maintain valid certifications
- Operate company vehicle in compliance with all local, state, and federal laws
- Perform housekeeping duties at assigned base locations
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid Massachusetts Driver’s License (required)
- Clean driving record – must provide a copy within 30 days of application
- CPR & First Aid Certification (or willing to obtain prior to start)
- High School Diploma or GED
- 18 years of age or older
- English literacy – ability to read, write, and communicate effectively
Physical Requirements
- Lift up to 45 lbs from the ground to 30 inches
- Push/pull wheelchairs with patients weighing up to 350 lbs
- Carry up to 30 lbs
- Frequent bending, squatting, standing, walking, stepping, and reaching
- Sit for long periods while driving
- Operate vehicles during all times of day, including peak traffic conditions
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior chair car or medical transportation experience
