What are the responsibilities and job description for the Library Operations Manager position at Beaufort County South Carolina?

- Supervises and evaluates assigned staff, including branch managers; provides guidance, resolves concerns, addresses performance issues, and conducts performance appraisals.
- Plans, assigns, and reviews staff work; establishes and maintains work schedules; monitors progress and completed tasks to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to standards.
- Oversees daily operations of all library branches, ensuring compliance with county and library policies, procedures, and service expectations.
- Analyzes systemwide performance data and prepares reports on circulation, attendance, and other key metrics.
- Assists in the preparation, administration, and monitoring of departmental budgets.
- Manages systemwide facility operations, including maintenance, safety, security, and improvements, to ensure libraries provide a safe and welcoming environment for staff and patrons.
- Develops, implements, and communicates policies, rules, and procedures; prepares reports and analyses on library activities, operations, and system performance.
- Coordinates with internal departments, external vendors, and contractors as necessary to support operational and facility needs.
- Coordinates technology and operational systems in partnership with County IT and external vendors.
- Performs related duties as required to support the overall mission and objectives of the library system.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Requires Master’s degree in in Public Administration, Business Administration, Library and Information Science (MLIS), or other related field.
- Over four years and up to and including eight years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, of which at least four years must have been in a supervisory or management capacity.
- South Carolina Public Librarian Certification, preferred.
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
