The Respiratory Care Practitioner assists in the treatment and management of neonatal, pediatric and adult patient populations. Therapists follow hospital and departmental policies, procedures and therapist driven protocols to safely and effectively deliver care as ordered by the patient’s physician. Participate in diagnostic and therapeutic respiratory care to include: ventilation and airway management, PFTs, bronch assists, code team response, electrocardiograms, chest physiotherapy, patient education and ABG acquisition/analysis. Therapists should possess strong critical thinking and effective communication skills. As a member of this patient care team, the therapist will have the opportunity to work in all care areas, evaluate patient progress in response to interventions, therapy and assist with discharge planning as needed. Position RequirementsEducation:
- Graduate of degree program for Respiratory Care
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year experience in an acute care hospital preferred. New grads considered.
Certifications/Licenses:
- SC RCP license required.
- Certification through NBRC (CRT or RRT) required.
- BLS required prior to first clinical shift (must be issued by the American Heart Association).
- NRP within 6 months of hire.
- ACLS preferred.
