General Work Description
The Adult and Aging Services Unit provides Beaufort County citizens the social services to support the achievement of goals of self-support and self-sufficiency. Further, it is the aim of this unit is to prevent abuse, neglect and exploitation of adults but if necessary, intervene to provide protection. This unit is committed to each individual or family we serve. The focus is on each person or family individually. The Adult and Aging Services Unit will respond in a respectful, confidential, efficient, effective and compassionate manner. This unit and the agency recognizes the worth and dignity of each person or family and the diversity of the different cultures that make up Beaufort County. The primary purpose ofthis social work position is to perform the duties/responsibilities of the Adult Home Specialist. The worker also serves as the Home Delivered Meals Coordinator. This worker will provide backup for the Adult Protective Services andGuardianship social workers.

Qualifications
Master's degree in social work from an accredited school of social work; Bachelor's degree in social work from anaccredited school of social work and one year directly related experience; Master's degree in a human services field andone year of directly related experience; Bachelor's degree in a human services field from an accredited college oruniversity and two years directly related experience; Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and threeyears of directly related experience. Degrees must be from an accredited institution. College transcript is required.
BSW or MSW degrees are preferred. Other combinations of education and experience will be considered for “work-against” status. Directly related experience is defined as human services experience in the areas of case management,assessment and referral, supportive counseling, intervention, psycho-social therapy, and treatment planning.
Other Information
The employee’s duties will also include periodic evening, weekend, and holiday responsibilities outside of one’s normalcase load. This duty is on a rotation basis incorporating all Children’s Services and Adult Protective Services (APS)Workers.
All DSS employees are subject to be called to serve as shelter manager during times of emergency or disaster. DSSemployees are considered essential and may be activated during emergency situations, as necessary.
Hiring rate - $54,650
Rate after successful completion of 12-month probationary period - $57,382
$5,000 will be added to base pay for selected applicants who have successfully completed their Masters of Social Workdegree. Applicants with qualified work against status may be considered at lower salary and grade.
