Millwright Apprentice – Sawmill
Job Summary
The Millwright Apprentice works under the supervision of experienced millwrights to learn how to install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair sawmill machinery and equipment. This position supports safe and efficient mill operations while developing skills in mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and industrial maintenance.
Key Responsibilities

Assist millwrights in installing, maintaining, and repairing sawmill equipment such as conveyors, debarkers, saws, and hydraulic systems.

Perform preventive maintenance on mechanical equipment to reduce downtime.

Help with alignment, lubrication, and replacement of mechanical components including bearings, belts, gears, and motors.

Use hand tools and power tools safely.

Learn to read mechanical drawings and equipment manuals.

Assist with troubleshooting mechanical issues in sawmill machinery.

Maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Follow company safety procedures and OSHA regulations.

Participate in training programs and apprenticeship coursework.
Qualifications
Education

High school diploma or GED required.
Experience

Entry-level position; 0–2 years of mechanical or industrial experience preferred.

Experience with construction, mechanical repair, automotive repair, or industrial equipment is helpful.
