The Foreman is responsible for day-to-day field execution of assigned commercial security projects. This role leads technicians, plans and coordinates daily work, maintains safety and quality standards, resolves field issues, communicates with project stakeholders, and supports delivery of projects on schedule and within labor expectations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead field execution for assigned projects and provide onsite supervision of technicians and installers across one or more worksites.
  • Plan daily and weekly manpower, assign work, coordinate materials and equipment, and monitor progress against schedule and labor expectations.
  • Direct teams in the installation, programming, testing, troubleshooting, commissioning, and turnover of access control, video surveillance, intrusion, and integrated security systems.
  • Interpret full construction drawing sets, specifications, submittals, device layouts, and project documentation and elevate RFIs, changes, or risks promptly.
  • Resolve routine field conflicts and complex technical issues with limited escalation.
  • Coordinate with project managers, customers, general contractors, trades, and site stakeholders and communicate status, constraints, and upcoming needs.
  • Enforce company installation standards, quality-control procedures, jobsite rules, and safety requirements.
  • Maintain accurate field documentation, labor hours, redlines, testing records, issue logs, and completion information.
  • Maintain necessary project tools, equipment, and truck stock and coordinate replenishment as needed.
  • Perform or direct system testing, signal verification, and correction of deficiencies before turnover.
  • Provide customer instruction and support system testing, startup, commissioning, and turnover.
  • Coach, train, and develop technicians while driving accountability, professionalism, productivity, and a positive field culture.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or vocational training required and successful completion of the company’s internal technical evaluation.
  • Five or more years of technician or equivalent low-voltage or electrical industry experience, including at least one year of supervisory experience.
  • At least two years leading field technicians or three years serving in a lead installer role preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising at least two technicians on active construction sites and delivering small to mid-size commercial security integration projects.
  • Required state low-voltage or security license where applicable.
  • Current scissor-lift and boom-lift certification, OSHA 30, video management certification, access control certification, and at least one intrusion system certification.

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Mastery-level troubleshooting and installation capability across access control, DMP, Milestone, Axis, network infrastructure, and other supported platforms.
  • Ability to interpret and direct work from complete system layouts, drawings, specifications, RFIs, and change documentation.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA requirements, applicable electrical codes, state and local construction requirements, and jobsite safety practices.
  • Ability to manage labor hours, schedule, material usage, field productivity, documentation, system testing, and quality control.
  • Strong written, verbal, customer-facing, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing field conditions, competing demands, delays, and unexpected events while maintaining quality, schedule, and labor awareness.
  • Ability to work independently, use discretion, and implement practical solutions to complex field situations.

LEADERSHIP AND WORKSITE EXPECTATIONS

  • Lead multiple technicians and, when assigned, multiple projects or worksites.
  • Own daily jobsite performance and resolve routine personnel, coordination, workmanship, and schedule issues.
  • Train and mentor technicians, reinforce performance standards, and support employee advancement.
  • Maintain professional communication with customers, project managers, general contractors, and other stakeholders.

PHYSICAL AND WORK REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to stand, walk, sit, twist, reach, push, pull, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl as required to perform field work.
  • Ability to work from ladders, scaffolding, lifts, crawl spaces, attics, and above ceilings, and to lift, move, and hold up to approximately 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work a flexible full-time schedule, participate in on-call coverage when assigned, travel on short notice, and drive for extended periods.

ADVANCEMENT EXPECTATIONS

  • Maintain advanced VMS and access control certifications, OSHA 30, and required annual continuing education.
  • Normally complete at least one year in the role before consideration for advancement.
  • Advancement is based on supervisor recommendation, technical and behavioral skill evaluation, an assessment interview, successful project performance, and management discretion.
