We are seeking a proactive and experienced Human Resource Generalist to join our dynamic Human Resources team. This on-site role plays a critical part in maintaining a positive work environment, supporting our employees, and ensuring HR compliance. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in employee relations, conducting investigations, leave of absence management, and prevailing wage regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a trusted advisor to employees and managers on HR policies, procedures, best practices, and employee relations matters.
- Conduct thorough and confidential workplace investigations, provide appropriate resolution recommendations, and ensure timely resolutions.
- Administer and track employee leaves of absence in compliance with applicable laws and internal policies.
- Partner with Payroll to ensure accurate employee data and changes related to leaves, status changes, and compensation.
- Ensure organizational compliance with federal, state, and local prevailing wage laws and reporting requirements.
- Partner with management on performance management, coaching, and corrective actions.
- Support day-to-day HR operations, including onboarding, offboarding when needed, and maintaining employee records.
- Provide HR support during audits or compliance reviews.
- Collaborate with cross-functional departments to support organizational goals and employee satisfaction.
- Maintain employee files and HRIS records in accordance with company policy and legal requirements.
- Contribute to HR initiatives and process improvements to enhance the employee experience.
- Generate and analyze ad hoc HR reports and metrics to support data-driven decision-making.
- Support HR due diligence, integration planning, and employee transition activities during mergers and acquisitions.
- Participate and support in team/branch activities as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- 3 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a generalist capacity.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws, including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, and prevailing wage regulations.
- Proficiency in prevailing wage calculations (i.e. identifying rates and calculating fringe) and submitting certified payrolls.
- Formal training on handling employee relations/complaints and conducting investigations.
- Proven ability to manage leaves of absence and navigate related compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with Canadian Employment Standards and experience supporting Canadian employees would be a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive matters with professionalism and confidentiality.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with Paycom would be a plus.
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively with limited supervision in a fast-paced environment.
- Capable of working well under pressure and managing stressful situations with professionalism.
- Strong multi-tasking skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
