DEPARTMENT: Family Health Center
SHIFT: 10 Hour Shifts
POSITION SUMMARY
The Clerical Assistant I is responsible for managing all tasks related to the front office of the outpatient clinic(s), including scheduling, insurance verification, patient registration, patient discharge, co-pay processing, heavy telephones and customer service in a high-volume medical setting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Coordinates aspects of patient visit including scheduling, registration, insurance verification and discharge.
- Demonstrates customer service skills to both internal and external customers in a busy medical office setting.
- All other duties or responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education (or substitute experience) Required:
- BLS Certification within 3 months of hire
Education Preferred:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Medical Terminology
Minimum Experience Required:
- N/A
Experience Preferred:
- Medical billing
- Primary or Specialty care clinic
- Rural Health Clinic experience
Skills:
- Excellent verbal and written communication and listening skills.
- Strong organization skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Office.
- Must have the ability to work collaboratively with physicians and other members of the health care team.
- Must be able to withstand stressful situations.
- Bilingual preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills
