What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Supervisor position at Bear Contracting?
Supervisor
Primary responsibilities:
· Capable of reading drawings and specifications and shooting own grades and making field adjustments based on project scope and challenges.
· Capable of working with survey parties to change grades when appropriate for the owner and to keep project moving and on schedule.
· Strong Management skills that aid in heavy civil work with a focus on utilities.
· Take safety extremely serious on all construction aspects, perform a daily Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
· Safety oriented and OSHA 10 and 30 a plus.
· Capable of educating crew of hazards on the project and production goals for the day, week and project.
· Familiar with placing and documenting miss utilities calls daily.
· Competently trained and familiar with proper shoring and soil conditions that may be encountered.
· Excellent at problem solving and strong leadership skills.
· Capable of coordinating onsite meetings with customers and WVDOH on crossing and scope of work.
· Capable of managing horizontal (Bore & Jack) and HDD directional bores.
· Comfortable with working with entities such as the Public Service Providers (PSD) and interface with client’s representative (inspection) on job site to resolve issues, schedule changes, equipment deliveries while maintaining customer satisfaction.
· Maintain open communication (verbally and written) with the owner to make sure proper contractual obligations are performed.
· Provide manager and customer representative with daily status report(s) as required.
· Be able to record time on a laptop or mobile apps as well as track change orders and modifications to the project scope and email project manager changes that need to be made.
· Provide documentation to Bear Contracting for preparation of project deliverables to client.
· Coordinate delivery of all materials for a project and maintain paperwork for office team to verify proper material was received and ready for construction.
· Participate in pre and post construction walks with clients and vendors to confirm site layout and ensure underground utilities have been identified and properly marked.
· Perform other related duties as required to ensure a safe workplace, quality construction and timely completion of each project.
· Work safely with traveling public and customers to make sure everyone’s best interest from a safety standpoint is maintained.
· Willing to travel and stay out of town when the project demands.
· Capable of operating equipment to teach young and old employees’ proper technique and safe aspects of each piece of equipment on the job site.
