Western School District is currently seeking one (1) School Nurse for Bean Elementary and Parma Elementary.

Qualifications:
- Licensed as an LPN or RN in the State of Michigan
- Possesses or is able to obtain the Michigan Department of Education Professional School Nurse Certificate
- Experience working with children/young adults preferred
- Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities
Terms of Employment/Compensation:
- 52 week assignment, with 200 working days per year
- Salary: TBD

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Works in a team relationship with teachers, support staff, and administration
- Provides nursing services to school aged children and youth
- Leads the district in assuring compliance with Jackson County Health Department and State of Michigan health mandates
- Able to work effectively with staff, parents, medical professionals, etc. to coordinate and implement appropriate school-based health care plans
- Serve as a proactive liaison between home, school, private physicians, and agencies relative to the applicable health needs of students
- Sensitive to the unique needs of students – able to differentiate services and care, where appropriate
- Develops and enforces medication protocols and enforces documentation of medication administration
- Knowledge of necessary safety protocols and injury prevention practices
- Effective practices of collecting data to monitor student care
- Collaborate with district and building administration on matters related to pandemic response, quarantines, contact tracing, vaccines, etc.
- Able to design and deliver appropriate in-service/training to school personnel (CPR, use of epinephrine auto injector, use of AEDs, etc.)
- Ensures a sex education program is implemented for elementary and middle school aged students
- Participates as a member of the Sex Education Advisory Board
- Coordinates with district staff and the Jackson County Health Department to oversee vaccinations needed to attend school
- Fills out the Michigan School Building weekly report of communicable diseases and forwards to the Jackson County Health Department
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, with attention to detail
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Proficient user of current forms of technology
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and FERPA laws
